Reporting Fraud

At ASC we are prepared and on guard to identify any type of fraud. Fraud is a felony with serious consequences; a fine and penalty of up to $10,000 and/or up to five (5) years jail sentence and reimbursement of the money obtained as a result of the fraudulent action.

You are committing fraud if you:

• Participate in or help to submit a false claim.
• Provide false information in writing, online (Internet) or verbally to make an insurance claim.
• Prepare or submit false or altered documents.
• Omit or alter information during the claim process.
• Submit more than one claim for the same damage to the insured vehicle.

Public Law No. 18 Known as the “Anti-Fraud Act” of January 8 of 2004, establishes that:

“ Any person who knowingly and with intent to defraud submits false information in an insurance claim, or submits, helps or bids submit a fraudulent claim for the payment of a loss or any other benefit, or files more than one claim for the same damage or loss, will incur in a felony, and if convicted will be sanctioned for each violation with a fine of no less than five thousand dollars ($5,000) or no more than ten thousand dollars ($10,000) or a fixed jail term of three (3) years, or both. In case of aggravated circumstances, the fixed term may be increased up to a maximum of five (5) years; in the case of attenuating circumstances, it may be reduced to a minimum of two (2) years.”
